This summer Virginia Army National Guard troops and Air National Guard airmen were deployed to the U.S.-Mexico border to help Border Patrol by serving as lookouts and scouts.
Over the course of a week, I spent time with the National Guard, Border Patrol, the Minutemen and Humane Borders, an aid organization. I also had a brief opportunity to explore parts of Nogales, Sonora.
